Aim

Several years ago, we worked with a fantastic director and crew on a commercial video campaign for a national running brand headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

As we filmed real talent runners, shoes, and the glorious Pacific Northwest environment that was both the backdrop to our sets as well as actual runs with the models, an art director on the project sent me a late-night email hoping that we could one day work together on creating an ‘affecting’ piece. Her note said, “I look forward to the day we are filming into the night because we get to create the likes of this.”

The ‘this’ was hyperlinked to the gorgeous music video by the talented music duo of Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson—HAMMOCK. The song was their stunning track, BREATHTURN.

I watched with chills and a similarly growing desire to work on something, in her words, affecting.

Byrd and Thompson’s album, CHASING AFTER SHADOWS... LIVING WITH THE GHOSTS went on to great acclaim. The BBC called it ”…one of the most beautiful albums of the year.”

This is the video she sent me (directed by David Altobelli). I wish it were a better resolution than 720p, but—it’s still beautiful. Enjoy.
